Hullo! We’re Kate and Penny. Together we are THIRTYODDBLONDES.
Best friends since the millennium, we’re now loving
life in our mid-30s. In many ways, we couldn’t be more different, but we agree
on the important things and we support each other no matter what.
Our friendship
has survived living together, long periods of distance and even that time we
both kissed the same boy...
In terms of life stages, we’re on completely different
pages (for the moment).
Kate is Mum to
the gorgeous Miss Lottie. She has just resumed her marketing role at a Swedish
firm after 13 months of bringing up baby.Freelance advertising writer Penny spent her 20s working for glossy mags in London and Sydney before moving home to Brissie in 2014. Kate is engaged to dapper dresser Kieron – a fellow triathlete and fitness enthusiast.
After being single for longer than anyone can remember, Penny is in a relatively new relationship.
Kate hails from the south side. Penny from the north. In Brisbane, this means something.
Fearless Kate’s idea of fun is trekking in Nepal or mountain-biking in Vietnam. Much more of a wuss, Penny is more of a ‘beach and books’ kind of gal. Even so, we’ve travelled the world together and always had a ball.
We blog because…
As mentioned, we
have our differences but we agree on the important things. Like that getting
dressed properly is amazing for creative expression and boosting one’s
confidence, BUT that there is definitely, infinitely more to life. That’s why
we post about travel, lifestyle and beauty as well as style. That part happened
quite naturally.
Our mutual style dilemma
Kate is evolving her style to reflect her changing identity as a mum who dresses corporate three days a week.
Penny doesn’t have to see anyone all day if she doesn’t want to, but fears becoming a disheveled recluse. She is striving for polished and put-together. Join us as we look for new, fun things to do around town and out of town.
From our individual perspectives, we’ll tell stories about life, love and family. We’ll also find excuses to shed our active wear and dress like we mean it, mixing bargain buys and solid staples with old faves and forever pieces.
